Director/VP of Marketing & Business Development

Job Description

KARMA Media Labs is in search of candidates for VP and Director of Marketing & Business Development to play a pivotal role in the development and growth of social media services for clients in entertainment, lifestyle, non-profit and brands. Candidate must have previous business development experience in interactive marketing with knowledge of Social Media and viral tactics. The individual(s) in this role will liaise with company management and account managers in all new business proposals and pitches. Preferred location LA, but open to SF or NY.

Responsibilities

  • Working with CEO and other senior managers, lead sales and pitch process for prospects from initial contact through closing
  • Oversee the development of detailed proposals and statements of work with the support of core team members including Account Directors, Publicists, Strategists and other members of the KML team
  • Help develop social media marketing strategies for our clients and work with team subject matter experts to develop strategies for proposals and best practices for execution
  • Understand all disciplines and KML social media marketing services enough to communicate to prospects and provide point of view of best practices and solutions across functions
  • Coordinate internal pitches and team kickoffs for all proposals, lead pitch requirements meetings and conduct follow ups to closely manage process
  • Have a point of view on industry structure, trends, initiatives, and issues
  • Represent KML at industry events and other online/offline networking to grow KML visibility
  • Provide Executive Sponsor, Client Partner or Account Director with insights into organizational opportunities for cross and up-sell media, social media, word of mouth and content syndication opportunities
  • Build and manage prospect pipeline and keep track of prospect lists and progress – keep the team informed of updates
  • Manage and direct Business Development support team
  • Requirements

  • 5 – 8+ years in an interactive environment and applicable work experience
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and creative environment and take proactive initiatives
  • Online Marketing and Social Media a plus
  • Possesses energy, integrity, a strong work ethic and an appreciation for social media
  • Detail oriented with excellent prioritization and organization skills
  • Highly Proficient in office (PPT, Word and Excel) and social media, including Facebook, Twitter, Digg, Blogging and knowledge sharing sites
  • Excellent business writing, editing and proof-reading skills
  • Superior presentation, client-facing and communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment as well as set personal goals and work independently
  • Bachelor’s degree
